Alessandro "Turtle Love" Nail Polish

I saw a cute little nail polish set by Alessandro International yesterday and I would have passed on it if it wasn't for the gorgeous mauve color in it. I love mauves! And I couldn't walk by! So I got it for 9,95 Euros and tried it out at home right away.

Opaque in one coat! Need I say more? I used two coats in the picture but it wouldn't have been necessary, really.

It was a little different with the pink shade, however, which I put on my toe nails, I needed two thick coats and wasn't really happy with the result. But it might have been the base coat, I used a different one.

The set is called "He loves me - Colours of Spring" and contains three 5ml bottles. It doesn't say any names or numbers on either the packaging or the bottles, but supposedly they are called: Clementine, Candy Floss Pink and Turtle Love (I found on several internet sites).

As for the painting directions:
I used
Nail Tek Foundation III as base coat
2 coats of Alessandro "Turtle Love"
Seche Vite top coat

Kill your Cosmetics - Update

My cosmetics stash has just been reduced by enormous, colossal, gigantic TWO THINGS! You can imagine my excitement since there is MUCH MORE room now!! Right? No??

"Cosmetics Killing/Project 10 Pan" is just not my thing, the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak...

So here are the products I have used up:

Essence Multi-Vitamin Nail Hardener
Excellent product, loved it, lasted forever (I used it as a base coat for every single manicure and pedicure and it lasted for almost a year). The consistency was great until the very end, I didn't have to thin it down. Would I repurchase? Yes yes yes! Not right away though, since I have Nail Tek Foundation III to try out now.

Essence SOS Nail Savers Nail & Cuticle Balm
Much as I loved the Essence nail hardener, I can't say anything good about the cuticle balm. I am probably not the biggest cuticle balm user in the world, a hand cream usually does it for me, but this balm was just annoying. The consistency is so thick (and orange) that - once in your nailbed - it will stay there forever! An orange sticky paste stuck to your nailbed! I seriously had to scrape it off every time I used it and wasn't even able to get it off completely. Did I mention it is orange? :-) So hands off this one! I ended up using it on dry patches of my feet. Repurchase? Hell no!

And with this, 7 items out of 10 are gone.

I will get there, eventually... hopefully...

Take care!

LOTD: MAC Flurry of Fun

And here comes my final lip swatch from my To the Beach Collection haul:
MAC Flurry of Fun lipglass

This gloss contains tiny blue sparkles (or is it blue and green?) which hopefully you can see in the picture. I don't have anything similar in my collection (which isn't a good reason to buy, because I don't own a green lipgloss either...). The gloss itself is not very opaque, the orange pigmentation comes off rather sheer.

MAC Lazy Day Lipstick

Fianna requested a lip swatch of MAC Lazy Day from the new MAC To the Beach Collection, so here it is.
The color complements my skin tone very well (NC30 with olive undertones) and Lustre is my favorite MAC lipstick finish so I really do like this lipstick. This is my only must-have from the collection, it was the only thing I really wanted when I looked at the display and swatched things at the store.

MAC describes it as a light blue-pink, I think it tends more toward a rosewood color, it's definitely a warmer Lustre than Viva Glam Gaga.
I posted the swatch comparison of Lazy Day and Viva Glam Gaga here.

MAC Funbathing Lipstick

Lips of the Day:
MAC Funbathing (To the Beach Collection)

Funbathing is a Cremesheen and MAC describes it as a mid-tone bronzed plum. I would say it comes off as a bronzed reddish brown and for me personally it belongs in the category "wearable red".
Here is a swatch on NC30 skin:

MAC Lustre Lipstick Comparison

Laura asked if I could compare MAC Viva Glam Gaga lipstick to MAC Lazy Day lipstick (To the Beach Collection) since they are both lustres and appear to be similar, so here we go with the swatches. I added a few other MAC lustres while I was at it:

Cute-Ster is from the Hello Kitty Collection

Lazy Day is from the To the Beach Collection

Viva Glam Gaga is from the From Our Lips Collection

Way To Love is from the Rose Romance Collection

Plink! is permanent

Lazy Day is definitely more of a rosewood color and much warmer than Viva Glam Gaga which is more of a blueish pink!

Here is a lip swatch of Viva Glam Gaga on NC20 skin and of Lazy Day on NC30 skin :

See you soon!

MAC Coral Blushes Comparison

Jenny asked if I could compare MAC Instant Chic Blush from the new MAC Pret-a-Papier Collection to similar blushes that I own, so here are the swatches:

MAC Peaches (Sheertone) is permanent

MAC Instant Chic (Sheertone) is limited edition (Pret-a-Papier Collection)

MAC Hipness (Frost) is limited edition (Fafi for MAC and To the Beach Collection)

MAC Fun & Games (Beauty Powder Blush) is limited edition (Hello Kitty Collection)

Nars Orgasm is permanent in the Nars range of products

As you can see, Peaches and Fun & Games are pretty similar, Fun & Games has more of a sparkle to it. Instant Chic and Hipness are also pretty identical, Hipness is a bit warmer and more pigmented. Nars Orgasm is similar to MAC Hipness, however, it has a rather glittery texture as opposed to frosty Hipness.

Hope this helped you out Jenny!

Have a great day,

MAC Hipness Blush

Martha wanted to know what MAC Hipness Blush from the new To the Beach Collection looked like swatched on the cheeks, so here it is Martha! :-)

This is NC30 skin and I do apologize for the pigment marks on my face (which I got ever since taking the birth control pill so if you suddenly get pigment marks and don't know why, that might be the explanation). The picture was taken with flash so I had to plaster the blush on pretty heavily for it to show up.

Hipness is a frost and it's a repromote from the Fafi for MAC Collection. Colorwise it's a bright coral pink with pearl.
See my MAC coral blushes comparison here.

Hope this was helpful!

Take care,

MAC To the Beach Collection

I've been a bad bad girl...

I checked out the MAC Pret-a-Papier Collection yesterday morning as well as the MAC To the Beach Collection and I meant to leave with very little from only the Pret-a-Papier Collection. Well, that didn't work out, did it?

MAC To the Beach Collection
I picked up two lipsticks:
Funbathing Bronzed reddish brown (Cremesheen)
Lazy Day Light blue-pink (Lustre)

I also picked up a lipglass:

Flurry of Fun Sheer orange with blue sparkles

Here come some swatches:

Left: Lipstick Funbathing (Cremesheen)
Middle: Lipstick Lazy Day (Lustre)
Right: Lipglass Flurry of Fun

*edit: Here are lip swatches of Funbathing, Lazy Day and Flurry of Fun:

*edit: please find a swatch comparison of Lazy Day with Viva Glam Gaga here.

I got two blushes, both are frosts:

Hipness Coral with pearl (Repromote from Fafi)
Get-Away Bronze Mid-tone suntan

And here are the swatches:

Left: Blush Get-Away Bronze
Right: Blush Hipness

*edit: see how Hipness Blush looks applied to the cheeks here and a MAC coral blush comparison here.

And to finish: all the swatches together:

What are you planning to get from this collection, anything that caught your eye?

Have a great day,

Blusherine
